Key Signs You Need Help With Your Finances

Business Insider reports that almost half of American families live on the brink of economic ruin. Combinations of tragedies, financial missteps, and just plain bad luck have put many families in a badplace. But if you’re used to living in debt or paycheck to paycheck, it may be hard to recognize the signs you need someone to help you.

Your Credit Cards Are Almost Maxed

Out Many people tend to rely on credit cards to help them make ends meet. When the cash runs thin, the plastic can help ease the burden. Or at least that’s what people think, even though it is dangerous. But Gallup states that increasingly American families do not have sufficient funds to cover all of their needs. If you do not have an emergency fund or anything else to help buffer you, you will likely be in deep trouble if something bad does happen. Credit cards should only be used in emergencies. Not as substitutes for paychecks. You’ll pay through the nose on interest rates alone, sometimes spending twoor three times as much by the time all is said and done.

You Are Depressed

While it may not seem like it’s relevant, depression is a common indication that you need help with your finances. Psych Central reports that poor finances can worsen stress and create significant problems with depression. Feeling anxious or overwhelmed when you consider paying your bills or try to tackle your finances is not a good or healthy place to be. More importantly, it doesn’t have to be.

You Are Caught in a Perpetual Cycle

Oftentimes, debt and making payments feels like you are trapped in a perpetual cycle, a merciless one.You get money, and it vanishes as you have to make the necessary payments. It feels impossible to get ahead. As soon as you get your paycheck, you spend it all and perhaps more. This becomes even worse if you have next to nothing in your bank account and frequently go into the red.

You Have No Emergency Fund

You must have an emergency fund. Life doesn’t warn you about when it’s going to make your life miserable or bring a catastrophe your way. The last thing you need is worry about money on your plate. If you have no emergency fund or plan for tackling crises, you will likely find yourself in trouble soon. This situation becomes even worse if you do not even have a savings account.

A healthy financial situation is one in which you are prepared for the future. You might not have all your debts paid off yet, and you will probably still have to make sacrifices. But you can start making better financial choices and break out of the cycle. Many of these signs often come together to paint a more bleak picture. In fact, many families suffer from all of these signs. The good news though is that you can get help. If you have made some financial missteps, may want to consider talking with an attorney at Van Horn Law Group to guide you out of the mess.
