Van Horn Law Group Team Member Spotlight: Meet Laverne M. Wallace

Laverne M. Wallace, Client Advocate

Q: What has been your most rewarding experience at Van Horn Law Group?

I can’t choose just one—I get to help people every day, so I guess that is what I’d have to say.

Q: What sets your firm apart from other firms?

We care about the client, really care about them and their situation. We want to see our clients succeed, and we treat them like they are our friends or family. Clients aren’t just numbers—they’re people.

Q: How long have you been at Van Horn Law Group?

Just over 9 months.

Q: What is your favorite part about what you do?

I love knowing that I can give people a bit of hope, no matter how hopeless they are when they come to us. There is always a solution, and we can help guide them toward it.

Q: What are you listening to/reading these days?

J Moss station on Pandora

Q: Where is your go-to spot in Fort Lauderdale?

Fort Lauderdale Beach; I love the sand and sun!

Q: Tell us something that might surprise us about you?

I was the youngest dancer on “Where It’s At,” which is Jamaica’s version of “Soul Train.”

Q: What are your three most overused words/phrases?

“This too shall pass.” “It’s all temporary.” “All will be well!”

Q: If you could eat lunch with someone famous, who would it be?

I would love to sit down with Oprah! She’s so inspiring and she seems like she’d be a lot of fun to talk to.

Q: Who is your biggest inspiration?

It might sound cliché, but I have to say my MOM. She has always been a strong role model for me.

Q: If you could go back in time, what would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?

I’d tell myself to listen to my mom more. She knows what she’s talking about! I’d also remind myself to always show love and respect. You never know where someone has come from or what has happened to them.
